COURSE DESCRIPTION
 
BRS-1 is a beginner level training class for CCIE candidate. In this class, we will explore the basic lab techniques required in the CCIE exam. This class is also a preparation class for our immediate/expert level CCIE training bootcamp (EPL-1). Through an extensive hand-on practice with lecture, basic topics in routing and switching will be covered. This training will form a concrete basis for your CCIE lab exam.
   
   
COURSE CONTENTS (24 HOURS OR MORE)
 
BRS-1 will cover all essential routing and switching topics in CCIE lab exam (Routing and switching track). The content will be emphasized on basic IGP connectivity and LAN switching using Catalyst3550.

Q: What is the target audience of BRS-1?

A : It is for entry level CCIE candidate who has limited practical experience. It is also for immediate level students who want to revise some basic stuffs in CCIE Lab Exam. We expect students have some router experience.

 
Q : What is the relationship between BRS-1 and EPL-1?

A : BRS-1 is a preparation class for EPL-1. BRS-1 will cover on basic stuff. EPL-1 will emphasize on some killing technique and require immediate or expert level of router experience.

 
Q : What is the proportion of practical lab to lecture?

A : As one of the preparation lab for CCIE, a large portion of practical exercise will be included. Basically, we will provide you a lecture before each practical lab session. During the lab session, the instructor will also discuss the problems arise during the lab.

 
Q : Does the course contain ISDN topics?

A : Yes. Basic ISDN operation will be covered. Each Rack will have its own pair of ISDN lines for practicing. More advanced topics will be covered in EPL-1.

 
Q : Does the course cover BGP topics?

A : It depends. Basically, BGP is covered in EPL-1. However, depending on the progress of the class, we may explore some basic BGP operation and features.

 
Q : Is Catalyst 3920 Token Ring Switch covered in the class?

A : No. It is no more an exam topic after November 2002.

 
Q : How about some other advanced IP topics?

A : No. For other advanced IP topics, like RSVP, QoS and IP Multicast, they will be covered in the EPL-1.

 
**Q : The schedule looks tight in each topic. Do we have extra time if we can't finish the lab?

A : Absolutely, Yes. We will provide extra lab time until students understand all issues in the lab. We will arrange make-up class or extra tutorial if necessary. All those extra classes or labs will be free.

 
Q : What is the best time to attend the course?

A : There's no preference but it is recommended to attend this course within one month before the EPL-1 starts.

 

Q : Will the lab update frequently?

A : Yes. We will update the content according to recent changes in CCIE Exam. For each lab book, there's a version number. The latest version is v2.0
